Card for a friend

A quick post today about a card I made for one of my closest friends. I was just a beginner in quilling then. The techniques used are just basic quilling shapes. But to this day I love the simplicity of the card.

Hope you like it! Until next time, Happy Quilling!

Lord Shiva

I got my first tattoo this year in February! Getting one done was a big deal for me as I was petrified of the pain involved. I looked at tattoo designs for quite a few days, until I found one that caught my eye. It was a tattoo of Lord Shiva. Now for those of who who aren't aware, Lord Shiva is one of the deities worshipped in Hinduism. He is one of the 3 prime deities that form the trinity of maintenance of life. Bramha - Vishnu - Mahesh form the trinity in Hindu religion. Bramha is the creator , Vishnu is associated with the maintenance or existence of life and Mahesh or Shiva who is the destroyer. So this particular image of Lord Shiva captures him in one of his angry moods when he performs a from of angry dance called "Tandav". The holy river of Ganges is believed to erupt from Lord Shiva's hair.

The entire piece took me about 9 hours to finish and I am pretty happy with the way it turned out.

And for those who are wondering if this was the tattoo I got done.. I didn't. Like I said I was scared of the pain involved and opted for something that was tiny :)

Till next time! Thank you for taking time to visit my page! As always, comments and advice / criticisms are welcome.

Quilling Swan

I have been addicted to Pinterest off late! While surfing one of the paper quilling boards I came across this magnificent paper quilling Swan made by an artist named Svetlana. It is such a beautiful piece of art that I just couldn't stop admiring it! I looked at it for days and days before I decided to attempt to replicate it. So, here are my humble efforts at trying to replicate one of the most beautiful quilling artworks that I have ever seen!

Dog Portraits

Hi friends!

I recently volunteered for M.O.M.S. rescue, an animal rescue and help them with their adoption stands and manage their pet listings in petfinder.

We were thinking about ideas for fund raising and I thought, why not use quilling in some way to benefit such a great cause!

I decided to make doggy portraits and am in the process of making a few as samples to be displayed at the adoption stands.

I have made a pug and a springer spaniel so far. How do you think they have turned out?

Tried my hand at something different!

Hi Guys!

Am trying my hand at crochet and tatting and am having a really great time! Hopefully I will share a few pictures once I am through with my first project.

I also tried making a simple quilling portrait this week. I selected a very simple portrait since this was the first time I was trying something like this (I don't even know if I should call this a portrait!)

Quilling tea set

I was doing an image search on Google with paper quilling as the key words and I came across a lot of these really cute tiny tea sets. So I thought I'd make one for myself :)

These tiny little tea sets are easy to make and look beautiful when displayed. I was thinking of making little teapot fridge magnets. What do you think?

Anniversary Gift

Hi Friends

I am back after a long break! My parents were visiting me and so I was busy showing them around Richmond, VA. Richmond is a beautiful city. Very picturesque and calm.

Ok, so getting back on track, I want to share something that I had made as an anniversary gift for my husband.

I came across this vector image of a couple having dinner and thought it would be a cute gift to give when we were at the restaurant.

I will most probably be inserting this piece in a shadow box. At present it is in a frame made a cardstock and hence isn't too sturdy.

I know the pictures aren't too clear. I will definitely try to click better pictures next time :)

Please feel free to leave comments and suggestions on how I can improve.

Take care...
