Quilling Fairy on a branch

Hey Guys!

I am back with another quilling creation that is very close to my heart as it is my first work that we framed and put up in our living room. My husband loved it so much that he had it framed immediately :)

The wings are made using the beehive technique. The technique was invented by Susan (http://susanquilling.blogspot.com/2011/12/beehive-flowers.html) Her blog is amazing and I get a lot of inspiration from her works!

Until next time :) Ciao

Quilling adventures...

As promised here are a few quilling projects that I started with. I got hooked on to quilling about two months back and have been totally addicted to it. These are some of my old quilling works and I will upload some more pics soon (better quality pics as well :P)

This is a pond which I had made as I was actually thinking of making a whole quilling garden scene (which somehow never got made!) Must think about working on it again!

This was my third attempt at 3D quilling. I was really happy with how the doll turned out :) Need to work on the legs though as she refused to stand without the base :/

These 2 birds were made as part of a scene I had in mind. The first pic has a bird sitting on a lamppost and the second one with a bird in a cage with open door. I think maybe I can add these two pieces if I ever get around to making the garden scene that I mentioned above. What say?

Paper Quilling it is!

I never knew I had a creative bone in my body. But I proved myself wrong when I tried my hand at Paper Quilling.

Paper quilling is a form of paper art in which thin strips of paper are rolled, shaped and glued together to create different shapes.

I will soon be sharing some of my quilling works. Please feel free to leave comments and  suggestions so that I can improve my skills :)

Ramblings of my soul

About 5 months back, on a cold Saturday afternoon my flight landed in the beautiful city of Richmond. When I had boarded the flight back in my home country, I knew my life was about to change. The only thing that I was unsure about, was how much it would change.

From a workaholic HR professional to a H4 dependent visa home maker - the journey seemed simple enough. Back home I kept contemplating all the wonderful things I could do with the free time I would have on my hands. It took me about a two weeks to get over my jet lag and settle down in my new routine as a home maker. And as I spent the winter afternoons looking out my window at the drifting snow flakes one day I realized that I wasn't content being just a home maker. I needed to add more to my life. I needed something that would keep my mind busy and my soul happy. From there on began my quest for something that could not only make me happy but also add value to my life.

After months of contemplating the idea of starting a blog, today I write this, hoping that someone out there will be in my situation and will find help, solace and a friend through my blogs.
